My Formula: Goals (Ingredient 2 of 12)

Last week’s blog provoked an avalanche of questions to my email inbox.
One email said, “OK, get a mentor. I will, but what else can I do to get unstuck?”
Over the next 11 weeks, I will blog about the other things to which I can attribute my success and happiness.
Now, I can’t promise that my formula will be perfect for anyone else, but I am certain that many of these things will work for anyone.
Here is ingredient #2: SET, WRITE, AND ANNOUNCE BIG GOALS.
When I left high school, my goal was to “Work for a great company and see the world.” Someone challenged me to GET SPECIFIC and WRITE IT DOWN.
I kept a piece of paper in my wallet that said,
-
work in management,
-
for an international restaurant company,
-
and travel to 20 countries
I achieved all 3 of those goals (and many more) over the next three years.
For the last 20 years, I’ve set goals. When I write them down, my chances of success multiply. When I tell others, they multiply again.
How about you? GOT GOALS?
I would love to read about them in the comments,

PS: I’m speaking at Tales of the Cocktail on Wednesday, July 25!
